ANNUAL QUILT & CRAFTS FAIR, BAKE SALE

Ballard NW Senior Center will showcase and honor the marvelous talents and crafts of seniors at our 3rd annual Quilt & Craft Fair.  The offerings are extraordinary.  You will find one-of-a-kind handmade quilts, glass art, jewelry, hand sewn aprons, purses, scarves, pottery, and more. The Bake Sale will have delicious sweets and a wide variety of baked goods. Some gluten free options will be offered. Yummy! Chef Bob’s Café will be open and serving delicious soups, sandwiches, salads, and pies, to enjoy while shopping this marvelous event. See you here as we honor seniors and their beautiful talents.

MEN'S BREAKFAST CLUB
$3 per meal
Friday, October 28th, 9:00am - 10:00am
Join in on the Men's Breakfast Club and enjoy a scrumptious breakfast accompanied by good friends.  Chef Bob prepares his buttermilk pancakes with scrambled eggs, bacon, and seasonal fruit.  Beverages include orange juice, coffee, and tea.  Male speakers share their stories, experiences, and tours of local establishments.  Due to the Holiday dates and schedules there is no Men’s Breakfast in November and December. 2016 $PRING for $ENIORS AUCTION & DINNER was on SUNDAY, APRIL 3RD

What a fantastic event. The best result in center history. Our dream goal was $75,000. We raised $72,152 and then one generous center couple donated another $1,425 toward our dream goal through the GiveBig campaign. That donation will be higher with the “stretch” gift from the Seattle Foundation. We are so thrilled and delighted with the amazing support of our sponsors, donors, guests, and volunteers. What amazing results! I’m overwhelmed with the community support. Thank you!

AARP & Others Oppose Proposed United Way Funding Cuts for Seniors

AARP Washington and more than 40 other advocacy and community service services organizations that advocate and serve thousands of older adults in King County and the State of Washington are deeply concerned that United Way’s new funding priorities will no longer include investments in programs that serve older adults and people with disabilities. Read more here.

How Bingo Saved This Seattle Man's Life When Bernie Sadowski first came to the Ballard Senior Center in 2009, he didn’t care about life. His wife of 50 years had died. “It was like, OK, I’ll go to sleep when I feel sleepy no matter where I was,” he said. He didn’t care if he woke up, and he didn’t know what to do with himself. Sadowski’s doctor told him he was going through depression and suggested that he get out and socialize. Sadowski’s daughter took him to the senior center. “Frankly, this saved my life,” Sadowski said.

2016 MEMBERSHIP DUES 
Membership dues for 2016 are $50 for the year and are available for purchase now. Membership is a good deal for anyone who wants to receive reduced fees on foot care, trips, many classes, as well as invitations to the member’s only luncheon and other benefits. Members receive coupons which provide some additional savings. We offer 3 options for payment to make it easier to support us. 

Payment Plans:

1) Make one payment of $50.

2) Make two payments of $25.
    (1st payment by 1/31/2016, 2nd payment by 6/30/2016)

3) Make four payments of $12.50.
    (1st and 2nd payment now, 3rd payment by 6/30/2016, 4th payment by 9/30/2016)

4) Member Sponsorship

Paying someone’s membership makes a wonderful gift that keeps on giving throughout the year. We also accept donations to help pay dues for those who cannot afford them. You do not have to be a member to participate at the Center.
